TADA-ima~ In the mid-late 90s trying to capitalise on the succ(ess) of Dragon Ball in their country of Malaysia a company named Speedy Video Distributors Sdn. Bhd. (The latter two words, “Sendirian Berhad” meaning “Private Limited”), decided to release the spin-off movies of the franchise dubbed in English through their retail stores nation-wide. The release of these movies, while sanctioned by T.A.E./A.I. (presumably Toei Animation Europe), were poorly-dubbed with masters allegedly coming from Mexico, Saban getting a cut of 25% for every movie sale, and English-speaking employees themselves providing the voice acting for the movie. Basically, shady stuff - and only in 2012 did footage of these dubs come to light. In any case, these movies would eventually see a compilation release consisting two volumes (contained in a DVD sized box despite the contents being a VCD folder) which The Apollo Dub Archive was lucky enough to obtain. Their VCD covers - or at least a portion of all of them - are on the box as are a list of the movies included, which the latter goes as follows: (Volume 1) -The Legend of Shenron -Sleeping Beauty In Devil Castle -Mystical Adventure -Dragon Ball Z -The Strongest Guy In The World -Super Battle In The World -Super Saiya, Songoku -The Strongest Rivals** -Fight ! 10 Billion Power Warriors (Volume 2) -Super Battle of 3 Super Saiyas -The Burning Battle** -Super Guy in the Galaxy -Dangerous Rivals -Attack! Super Warriors -Rival Fusion -Explosion of Dragon Punch -The Way of The Strongest ** - Video will not work. Please use other sources if you wish to watch said movies in Speedy dub. All of these movies were ripped by yours truly from our VCDs, meaning that “Dangerous Rivals” - which supposedly had audio/video syncing problems ten minutes in - can now be seen how it’s supposed to. Of these, however, one was not dubbed by Speedy - that is, “The Legend of Shenron” which simply uses a dub produced by BLT. The movies “Sleeping Beauty in Devil Castle”, “Attack! Super Warriors” and “Explosion of Dragon Punch” were never uploaded on the Internet until we got a hold of this compilation release and released it through our website. Enjoy these releases for what you can! I don’t know much about Dragon Ball, but I do know these movies are a gold mine for drinking games and comedic video compilations. Hello z6_fjdSRA3I, Regarding your query, these films start from 1987 as per the original Japanese release of Sleeping Beauty (first Speedy film to be dubbed) and end at 1995 with Explosion of Dragon Punch (though Way of the Strongest was from 1996, my mistake). They also do not come with subtitles to complement the English-dubbed shenanigans. The original VCD rips do not either.
Why is The Strongest Rivals only 11 MB?

Hello LTCProductions, Apologies for that; there was an error in the conversion process which was not realised. We'll release that movie standalone soon once we get it working again; but in the meantime please use The Strongest Rivals' from this release here: https://nyaa.iss.one/view/949239
Thanks for sharing. In terms of video, these seem to've used sources ranging from the US to Chinese and the original Japanese releases. The Movie 13 here (Explosion of Dragon Punch) even includes the "Tape End Special" segment with colouring pages of Gogeta. I had a playback error with "The Burning Battle" too, around and after 51:00.
Many thanks for finding the rest of these! Are the audio tracks encoded or raw?
What evidence do you have for the statement "The release of these movies, while sanctioned by T.A.E./A.I. (presumably Toei Animation Europe), were poorly-dubbed with masters allegedly coming from Mexico, Saban getting a cut of 25% for every movie sale, and English-speaking employees themselves providing the voice acting for the movie"? I was under the impression that the entirety of Speedy's DB releases, from their own dubbed stuff to their VCD releases of BLT DB Movie 1 and the Saban and Funi DBZ episodes, were bootlegs made using certain home releases (Cantoneese?), some of which separated the vocals from the music and sound effects). Also, will the Speedy Dragon Ball Z series VCD's ever be uploaded (Vol 4 is the only one that has been uploaded online) ? And I don't mean Speedy's releases of the Saban and Funi dubs, I meant Speedy's own dub of the series. On a different note, both the audio and video have been encoded. I would have preferred the raws, considering that mpeg-1 video and audio aren't the best sources to begin with, and considering the raws would still have been no bigger than 700MB.

Hi Danfun64, the copyright information on these discs clearly state "(C) [Year of movie release] Bird Studio/Shueisha, Toei Animation Licensed by T.A.E./A.I." meaning that if they were NOT sanctioned they would be unlawfully distributing these discs with the statement and would therefore be liable to criminal prosecution. As for the rest of the statement, however, the only evidence (and it may fall flat) is from a statement a while back - I should be more clear next time. It reads as follows: "As somebody who lived in Malaysia in the 90s I can tell you a little bit about Speedy, due to the rising popularity of dbz when it went on Cartoon Network with its deal with Sagan studios..." (Rest of this quote can be found here: http://www.kanzenshuu.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=40186 due to space limitations) At this point, it's anyone's guess as to what really happened and what didn't. But regarding your request for the series VCDs being uploaded, I am on the lookout for those where I live and will upload them when I find any. In the meantime, however, we do have episodes 1-20 of another Speedy dub which we are releasing as a batch - another Toei show called Jetman. We also have the Speedy dub to the last bunch of episodes for Ultraman Cosmos and the first two episodes to Ultraman Tiga, so we'll release those on torrent too.
Good, good. Now we just need the remaining Big Green movies, and we'll have the entire so bad it's good bad dub collection. Can we get the untouched ISO files, though?
I second the request for raw vcd uploads/ISOs. Some of the Speedy VCDs here are really rare, so it would be really appreciated if they were uploaded untouched.

Hi DaburasBeard; I ripped these a month ago, but if there's demand for untouched ISO files I should be able to deliver.
If it's not too much trouble, I'd also appreciate untouched files.
>also check out our website for more obscure/lost English dub releases just did and thanks a lot for the malaysian jetman :D
@TheApolloDubArchive ....Thank you for the hard work and also for the willingness to share the ISOs too .
YES! Bring on .dat raw goodness.

@ZZZ-DragginBall-ZZZ @Porenta It's no trouble. Do look forward to our future releases.
Having all movies, it could very much persuade me to polish the audio on those. The untouched files would naturally be a huge help here and very appreciated.

Hi, this torrent is no longer being maintained; it has been superseded by the other torrent where the files are in .dat format.
