Challenge : post your qc reports! And where you find an 'alright' instead of 'all right'.
Just a little correction It's Nankatsu "SC" Not Nankatsu "FC"
Atbara: We don't play soccer on this side of the earth, boy. So it is FC, not SC.
It's not about what you play on your side of earth. It's the club's actual name in the series. You can't change it as you wish. There are other clubs in the series which have FC in their native names like Meiwa FC, Musashi FC, Hanawa FC. There are even others who don't have SC or FC in their names like Ossu SS. See more at http://captaintsubasa.wikia.com/wiki/Nankatsu_SC They all play on the same side of the earth, right? Calling Nankatsu SC Nankatsu FC is like calling Tsubasa "Wings" in the subs because that name is Japanese. Hopefully I was able to make my point.
Hello, We made a stylistic decision to use Nankatsu FC. I will take your suggestion into consideration, because I do prefer using only the "original" terms, so we may make that change for v2, but I cannot promise anything. Thanks, nothingxs
Thanks for the response. Yeah, "original" term pretty much sums up what I tried to say. Nankatsu SC is the club's name in the original Captain Tsubasa manga and all the related official works and merchandise as how it is with Meiwa FC, Musashi FC etc. I don't really mind what you type in your subs, I just wanted to make it clear.
Let me have a few words on that matter as one of the translator and translation checker: While I do agree and get your point fully, I think you have some misconception about translating special names, Nobody calls Brazilian National Team as Seleção Brasileira de Futebol, no? The name is given for a purpose and can be fully translated, yet still is a special name. Character names are on a wholly different level and a different story We decided FC, because personally, we would love to keep it football, and most of our team mambers(inside joke nvm me having fun) feels weirded out with soccer. Since we went for the football and Japanese people use both (don't ask me why, its japan <3) the change was made. As a final word, as long as it's not a story altering change, I humbly think we have the right to decide it for ourselves, love and peace, aria is out!
I just made an analogy with character names to make my point about the original names. I'm not strict with translating special names. Sure, you can translate special names partly or fully as needed i.e. you can fully translate national team names. Though this specific case here is about the club names, and about the acronyms used in the club names in a more detailed manner. Think about the real life clubs. One example is FC Bayern München. Everyone in the world calls them with this name and it's like this in their club logo. The city's name may be translated depending on how it is called where you live (i.e. it may be called FC Bayern Munich) but I don't see anyone translating the FC part (i.e. no one in US says SC Bayern Munich just because they prefer calling the sport soccer). So anyway, it's not a story altering change and you have the right to keep it as Nankatsu FC for whatever purpose but it's still Nankatsu SC.
