This is the long-awaited V2 of a fancut of Madoka Magica using frames from the recap movies to recreate the TV series, subbed in English and Finnish.

Is it possible you could try this with Evangelion? I now Death and Rebirth has a few redone shots, though that could be tricky since the new footage is done in 16:9, whereas the show is 4:3.
I was actually looking into starting Madoka. I will watch this once I'm done with the TV and Movie series.
Thanks for these cuts! It may not be official, but it's great to see fan cuts like this!
@H94: Frankly, no, that's not going to happen. The aspect ratio wouldn't necessarily be a problem since you could probably just reduce the 16:9 footage to 4:3 and not lose anything super important, but what is a problem instead is that this takes a shit ton of effort. This project was worth the effort for me because I'm a bigger fan of Madoka than I should be for my own good, but when it comes to Evangelion, I just like it as much as the average guy, so I'm not super excited about the idea of working intensively for months on an Eva project.
If you or anyone wants to do it though, I can send you a bunch of helpful resources.
@RozDa: H94's explanation is very short but not inaccurate. If you want a longer explanation, read the FAQ: https://mega.nz/#!8sI0DQxD!bUqhxFG9RiQB970IZ5oB0KV8eRTHLIDNjVcr95PFqcI
A quick question.
If we get this version, the original 12 episode version is unnecessary.
Is that correct?
One last final question! ?
The original 12 episode version has madoka and honmura merging naked.
Is this replaced by your movie version.
@Hifumi_l: Yes, if you get this version, the original 12 TV episodes are unnecessary (as far as most people are concerned anyway — the FAQ lists a few reasons why you might want to have a different version in addition to ours).
Since our version has two editions, the answer to your last final question is both yes and no. The Movie Edition uses visuals from the movie for that scene whereas the TV Edition uses visuals from the TV series.
If I'm understanding the User Manual and FAQ, I guess this release definitely wouldn't play properly through Plex? I'm not sure I understand what the Filter does to switch between Movie/TV edition, but I'm assuming something that specific wouldn't work through something like Plex. Pity.
@the_swizzler I'm not a Plex user but it looks like it won't play properly. Specifically, you'll get some scenes twice and you would have to skip over them manually. To get it to work, you have four options:
1) Use PenguinFever's re-encodes of the v1 which is worse than this version but not unwatchable
2) Make similar re-encodes of the v2 yourself
3) Wait for someone else to do that (which may or may not ever happen)
4) Wait for Plex to update their service such that it supports mkv editions and chapters (which may or may not ever happen)
If you choose option 2, feel free to upload your re-encodes somewhere; at least a few other people would also be interested in having that.
This is really awesome and really the best version of Madoka available.
With that said, ALL that is missing is the Rebellion movie. I'm surprised it isn't here since this release even uses meguca subs and there's the great Meguca release of the movie, so an encode of that would be awesome. I already watched it all, just a suggestion for a more complete release! Maybe if you want to really be complete the audio dramas too?
In fact, this should be higher in Nyaa list. Maybe people don't get it? Or maybe because it's not a h265 release? Another idea for a future reencode. Thanks for what is my opinion the definitive version of Madoka together with Sephirotic's Evangelion.
@MetaKnight Thanks! I doubt people care that much about h264 vs h265 given that the difference only really shows up in low bitrate encodes, which this isn't. I think it's just that being interested in this requires a pretty high level of dedication to Madoka: you need to 1) have seen Madoka 2) want to watch it again 3) go out of your way to download a different version instead of watching the one you already have 4) either not already have our v1 or be willing to download yet another version for even smaller improvements, and of course you also need to not have an issue with torrenting or fan edits in general and you have to know that this exists. I also released this at a time when the active fanbase had been on the decline for a long time and legal alternatives to torrents existed. The v1 had about 10 times as many downloads as this does, and it doesn't surprise me that this didn't do as well considering the circumstances.
Rebellion isn't there because there isn't anything I can do to make Meguca's release better than it already is, and the same is true for the audio dramas. I guess a "all-in-one" torrent would make sense, but anyone who thinks that should exist can put it together, and this is also not the ideal time to do that since MagiReco anime is coming.
I’d like to use this release to make subs in a different language for personal use. I followed the directions in the FAQ, but the subs no longer load at correct times as soon as they’re extracted with MKVCleaver. For example, episode 1 subs now play the lyrics for Luminous during the girls’ walk to school even though I’m using the TV edition and Luminous shouldn’t be loading at all. Could you tell me how I can make them work properly?
@CrazyC It's cool that you're putting in that much effort and I'd love to help you out to get it working. Could you send me an e-mail and attach your edited subtitle file to it? That way it would be easier for me to figure out what's wrong.
For anyone wondering, I can confirm the videos work perfectly (or at least seem to after a full rewatch) in Daum's PotPlayer, with MKV edition control and everything. So if anyone uses that player, you don't have to switch to MPC-HC.
For anyone wanting to use regular mpv, you can check the current edition with "i" (or whatever key your stats are) and you can change edition with "cycle edition" on the console (default key is "`").
