thanks so much! I was so annoyed at the other person who took the huge dvd files and encoded them into small, shit quality files. 450 mb is so reasonable! I will patiently for your next drop because I"m on episode 79 (I was only able to get up to episode 79 of the 350 mb dvd encodes from the somewhat recently defunct clubbox site)
So I'll assume it is also stretched, considering the other release had a 4/3 aspect ratio with the black bars included and this one has the same aspect ratio without them. Just a little request: leave a note when you do any kind of stretching, so the viewers can set it back to the original if they want to. Even if it's just 2% stretching it can be noticed on some scenes, like when a face is occupying the whole frame. I've done this kind of stretch in the past in some reencodes I've made, and I regret it.
Another question: did you upscale it too or was the other reencoder who downscaled it to 480p?
By the way, you did a great job with the deinterlacing. I had tried to deinterlace some DVDRips before and I've failed miserably.
@Sentinela
Black borders on DVD is a common thing. But here is the trick - I have one DVD episode with full picture width of 720 pixels and another one with 698 pixels(22 is black). However the opening have exact the same picture with different aspect. On this DVDs I have even worse situation - op with black bar way thicker on one side, main part with bar on another side and so on. And the thickness is different every time (even in different scenes). So my conclusion - aspect ratio related to actual picture and not the DVD mastering(on this DVDs for sure).
And yes, it is an upscale. This one upscaled mostly because of that shifting borders issue.
