The fifth episode of Kakegurui×× is here, and we hope you enjoy it! Isaac has been learning the dark arts of typesetting, and not a moment too soon, because there's a heck of a lot of onscreen text this episode.
As with the previous episode, this episode, as well as all others going forward, has **two subtitle tracks**—the first without honorifics and with names in English order, and the second with honorifics and with names in Japanese order. VLC has an unfortunate tendency to dull colors, so we don't recommend using it.
Finally, we have a website now! Link is in the information above.

@fuee Typically when an anime is airing, the 1080p release is just upscaled 720p rather than natively being a higher resolution, so you're not really getting any extra quality. As such, we don't bother with 1080p releases for seasonal shows. If any video quality weebs let us know something different about this show in particular we'll consider it, but until then, AnimeTosho has our subs/attachments if you want to mux it yourself.
I'd say it depends, I made a fast comparison here (http://screenshotcomparison.com/comparison/129653/)
All screenshots are taken with MPC-BE and LAV Video Decoder w/ DXVA2 copy-back (couldn't be bothered to change it)
Keep an eye on the lines of the dress' lower part on #1/#3 and the hands/face in #2/#4
Set #1 and #2 are using MadVR with more than decent upscaling algorithms (95% gpu usage on my GTX770) and, while there is some difference, we can agree that is pretty much negligible
Set #3 and #4 are using Enhanced Video Renderer (the default one) and here I'd say the difference is pretty noticeable (#4 720p is kind of a shit fest tbh)
Ultimately you guys do whatever you want but if you don't want to bother setting up a video player decently, or just want to stream your stuff w/ Plex, I'd say downloading 1080p will still always be better

That last part in particular is rubbish. While the vast majority of anime is upscaled, in the case of WEB sources 1080p will still look better, atleast in the case of CR. I am fairly certain it's the same for Amazon. It doesn't matter whether the native resolution is 810p, 720p or 405p. The 1080p stream will ultimately look the best because of the **relatively** higher bitrate. So yes, you are very much getting extra quality, as Tomhet showed out in the comparison above. :P
And regarding the native resolution, for this anime it's actually higher than 720p (Anibin reports 806p). So even if the bitrate was the same as the eventual Blu-Ray release, you'd still be losing out on detail.
I recommend you either go with Erai-Raws 1080p or encode a 810p 10-bit 4:4:4 version using the 1080p stream as a source. Untouched WEB sources will definitely benefit from filtering.
@Scyrous and others Thanks for the info. Sounds like Curtis may actually have to learn about proper video encoding instead of just muxing existing things together...
