One of my childhood anime's DVDISOs are finally available to me. I was never able to grab them before ADC capsized. Sadly the DVDs aren't particularly good, but short of an HDTV cap (which this particular season hasn't had (yet)), we're not getting any better. Filtering's a mixed bag. Edges were cropped where necessary and repaired, luma was heavily deblocked, followed by EdgeCleaner'd and a very tiny amount of linedarkening was performed. Afterwards, the more controversial part most likely: waifu2x was used to denoise the chroma, and BM3D was used to denoise the luma, followed by a contrasharpen to try and make sure most minor detail remained (this failed in a lot of cases, unfortunately). The logo was QTGMC'd to fix the heavy interlacing artifacting caused during the deinterlacing, followed by a generic deband and graining. Far from my proudest encode, but the results at least don't look awful. Unfortunately the DVDs did not have PCM audio, so AC3 it is. I'll probably do the other NCs at some point. I just felt like doing this one in advance, since it's easily my favorite of them all. PS: no, I'm not doing Tornland NCOP2. Oh also, word's going out that there's a team that's gonna start working on it from S1-S5. You didn't hear it from me, though. EDIT: Also I'll be sure to fix that animation error in this OP that I noticed after release whenever I do every NC sometime later.
