Hi Everyone,
I spent some time learning alot of different things within subtitiles and encoding.
The point was to make the subtitles consistent with S2 23v2 and 24 that we did recently.
Im working on Season 2 (including the movie) as a whole now and will release those soon
and Season 2's OVA's when a BD for that season becomes available.
The video/audio source for Season 1 comes from the USBD, I chose that one to learn some filtering
within Vaporsynth and x265 (Thank you LightArrowsEXE for putting up with me through that).
They've been filtered to look a little sharper and less grainy and encoded to 10-bit x265 at source resolution of 1080p.
Video/audio source for Season 1 OVA was the OVA Boxset BDMVs (Thank you JdCox for those), with similiar
filtering taking place to liven up the video a bit.
The Subtitles included are the subs we built that have a consistent feel with 23v2 and 24, same speech text
and the Stamps and other signs we had built for 23v2 and 24 are used here. The translation and other Signs come from Elysium's for Season 1, though many have been tracked as they were not initially and were all re-timed to fit this encode, I'm not sure where the sub source originally came from for Season 1 OVA but I got them from Noem-Light's sources and re-timed, re-tracked, re-styled etc.
Also included are the official English BD subs in PGS for anyone who likes that sort of thing.
Thanks for the updated subs. OVA sub source seems to be from Procrastinating btw. Also, maybe it's nice for others to know if this one has censored or uncensored audio.
On the note of the audio. I'm pretty sure it is censored in season 1 but they use it for jokes on the USBD and there isn't any other tracks. Sorry I didn't make that clear.
Btw did you just globaly shift the subtitle timing to fit the video/audio or also manual retimed the dialogue/signs?
Because I checked a couple of episodes and I noticed that there's still quite some stuff that needs to be fixed:
* S1: The lines with "Seitokai Alter" are not being displayed because they're missing a font with, for some reason, the exact same name. Orignally the font should've been "Puritan" (like "Seitokai Alter^"), but because your using "Gandhi Sans" for the dialogue now, maybe it's better to change the alter to that as well (with different outline ofcourse).
* OVA 16: "SecondSpeaker" for 11:29.87 and 11:30.84 seems to be the wrong style (size/outline/font?).
* And the overall dialogue/sign timing & sign tracking still has quite some room for improvement. (e.g. timing E5 05:29.42- "Ero-Manga Island", timing/positioning E5 08:10.33 "Get-well gift", timing E5 08:14.33 - snap to frame, etc.)
Well maybe you can fix the subs for your next release (or let someone else do it), but that's up to you. Until then I'll wait patiently for the next Seitokai release.
To be perfectly honest, this is more of a V1. When all the BD's are out, i'm going to re-do them all to be the perfect and exact but that is some time away. I was hoping for as much criticism as possible but my regular QC is busy with other projects to be able to check every single sign in this release. He will be available for Movie2 and ep 25 in a few months but it won't be till well after that, in which all BD's are out and we will release all the episodes at once.
ToishY, why don't you join our server and help out with the release of Season 2 and the next movie and episode in a few months too? Could always use extra pair of eyes.
Uhh, yeah the text is white with a black outline. Odd request. If you wanted to have specific colors for the text you might as well restyle the shows on your own too lol. Lots of different fonts used for different releases.
yes i do know how and thanks so much. sometimes it is impossible if they are hard subbed but thanks a lot for this much much appreciated. Since all of our schools are shut down now, but may re open soon, it is fun to see them as they like to be..

I tracked all the ones that could be done well. Some of the more complicated or over animated ones I left out obviously. I don’t think there were that many that weren’t implemented though. I only added more to the previous Suzu's heads. I didn't remove any.
MPHC but I have opened it in aegisub and couldn't find them either.

signs at 11:12, 11:44, 13:08, 15:14, 20:14 are not present.
Signs over Suzu head are not that important but imperfect timing is a bit troublesome.

Do you have other plans besides SYD?
No I am just doing SYD. Timing-wise I know there was some issues with this one, I fixed up timing for the other two releases and I intend to re-release them more properly when Season 2 OVA BD comes out. I needed some practice on TS with these because with the Movie2 and episode 27 that we will translate in the coming months I may have to do the TS on my own this time whereas before someone else was doing them and I had other sections to focus on. Do you know where I can get my hands on Kira's release of season 1?
Alright, I've taken your inputs to heart. I'm going to spend a portion of the next couple days fixing up the timing and some of the fonts for season 1 and then release a patch in a few days that will fix all of those issues. Dunno if I should just re-release the whole season instead of a patch though.
Thanks for all effort you've put into SYD (no offence but it's terribly timed) but from those 4 releases imo your (with timing) would be the best:)

Stay strong B-Bass and continue your mission! I had real fun re-watching this after all those years;) especially new anime for a year or two can be barely considered as watchable or an anime at all:(

This season I'm watching only Houkago Teibou Nisshi and Fruits Basket (I love Fruits Basket).
As for patch or uploading whole season it depends on internet speed both yours and people downloading.
I prefer the second one but I'll accept everything you do:)
Thanks for finding the subfiles. I'll try my best to implement some extra Suzu's Heads. Timing on Season 2 and the Movie have already been thoroughly checked so ill leave those as is and just make new signs for it in a year's time when I do the full BD release with Season 2 OVA. Season 1 I will start working on within the next 24 hours and hopefully in about 96 hours I can have them done.
