Here’s my encode of Tenki no Ko!
Source is [obs sucks] & Eng subs by Hina (@LnlyHikikomori). The Dutch hardcoded subs have been blended as best as possible with the surrounding pixels. However, there are a few artefacts, but they are less noticeable than basically all of the other versions currently available. That being said, this is coming from a coder’s opinion (personal python algorithm made just for fixing the HC subs for this film) and a complete novice at encoding. All in all, hopefully this will be enjoyable to watch. This is Severian, thank you for your patronage.

Alright, I finally checked. This is NOT hardcoded, but there are SRT subtitles inside the MP4 container. You should be able to disable the subtitles with any capable video player.
This is still at 25FPS, unfortunately.

Hi there thanks for the feedback!
@TGminer yes you are correct the English subs were not hardcoded, however the Dutch subs were as from the source file. As to the 25FPS issue, there is file being made now to try and encode it at 23.976FPS. It should be complete in the next 24h, but no promises. Also some hardcoded Dutch subs evaded the cleaning aperture and artefacts were generated due to the white RGB filtering. This should also hopefully be mostly resolved as well with a few parameter adjustments to the script.
@icr0 the script will become available on github as soon as a docstring has been written up since each command in the function is quite sensitive to minor adjustments. And editing the script for your/everyone else’s future needs would need to have the know how. In other words, soon, one project at a time. Will post the link to it when it is done.
@ZedtimeStories not sure what you mean by the quality being better? It is no better than the source file from obs sucks. The only thing that was changed was the hardcoded Dutch subs being masked over. Hope that helped…

BD version will be out in less than 2 weeks it has subs too. Thanks for your hard work but believe me (seen it in the Cinema) wait for the Blu Ray version the experience will be better.
