Only English CC subs? So they’re dubtitles then, no actual translated subtitles for the Japanese audio… that kind of sucks, Netflix.

@LastReaction English is the main language for the show so what’d you expect, they’re not gonna make subs for the Japanese audio when its technically the foreign dub here.

@aKraa: How is it a “foreign dub” when the animation studio is literally Japanese, and its about an ancient Japanese warrior in feudal Japan? That literally makes no sense. Just because the director and producer was American, doesn’t automatically make it foreign if the content itself is actual Japanese history and it was made by a Japanese studio.

I’m not even coming at you personally, this is just Netflix, as always, not knowing how to properly release an anime. I’m still gonna watch it and it’s probably still a great show, they just fucked that one thing up which is unfortunate, but it’s not the end of the world.

@LastReaction It is an American produced and written show that has its original “dub” as English, but is animated by MAPPA. Is ATLA and LoK’s Korean Dubs now not foreign dubs just because Studio Mir, Moi Animation and DR Movie are Korean studios that did a lot of the animation?

@BlackestDynamite: The difference between ATLA, LoK, and Yasuke is… look at the official poster in the description of this torrent. It’s in Japanese! The setting and story is literally of ancient Japanese origin, you know that right? Yasuke was a real man, they just added some fantasy elements to make the story more interesting. Avatar and Korra are 100% fantasy works, if I recall correctly I don’t remember seeing Avatar or Korra advertisements mainly being shown in Korean. That’s my main gripe about it, how you gonna make a show about Japanese history, have Japanese people animate it, and then say “fuck the Japanese audio, they don’t need subtitles, just slap some closed captions from the English dub and call it a day.” That’s just being lazy on Netflix’s part, let’s be real here. If Funimation or Crunchyroll were the ones to greenlight this show, it would be a completely different story.
