Is this the original aspect ratio? Because I have suspicions it was animated in 4:3. All of the 16:9 versions I can find are obviously cropped and it annoys me to no end. There are some PAL DVDs that are listed as 4:3 (1.33:1) but pretty much nowhere else for some reason. I'm hoping those aren't pan & scanned versions of the 1.66:1 versions which would be essentially double-cropping them.

Why would it be animated in 4:3? It was animated, and shown in Japanaese theaters, in 1,85:1 (=16,65:9).
