DE BD isn’t low pass filtered like the JP/US/IT BD, so DE BD has noticeably sharper colors and more details in complex scenes. On the other hand, the DE BD is as you can see obviously not debanded, but hey, that’s where deband filters can help (just to be clear, the video here is untouched, so you’ll have to use e.g. madVR or MPV debander.)
*Note: the screenshots in comparison mention JP/US/IT BD, but I’m not certain if US BD uses the same encode as JP/IT BD.
The main video source is DE BD (frames 330-167733), but to match the JP/US/IT BD timing I replaced DE BD frames 0-329 (WB logo intro) & 167734-167768 (WB logo outro) with IT BD frames 0-332 & 167737-167783.

You are using a single image for comparison with US/JP/IT BD even though they are all different from what I gathered.

@Interruptor
Screenshots are from IT BD. I was under the impression that IT BD is a clone of JP BD, but could be wrong. At the very least they share the same problems. I’ll add a note.
Interruptor
I know that the IT BD is significantly better than the JP BD, so if you took the screenshots from the ITBD that’s good enough.

de bd was this close to being actually servicable, except they forgot FUCKING DEBANDING.
this might be the closest german anime publishers have come to publishing a good bluray
scav
@Interruptor
You would normally expect that, but their encoder only encoded the TV version and not the 2 movies and Rebellion.
fwiw the JP BD MKV remux mediainfo on Blutopia shows same video bitrate info as IT BD (37.2 Mb/s - max: 39.5 Mb/s).

How’s aliasing on this one? And what tool did you use to replace frames?
scav
@salarx
I split and appended the video in MKVToolnix. You should only split before an IDR-frame, which is iirc always a K-frame and often I-frame as well. You can check the position of K/I-frames in VirtualDub2.
In terms of aliasing not much different from JP/IT BD, but the aliasing may stand out more in DE BD scenes that were low pass filtered on JP/IT BD.
@Interruptor
Can confirm now that IT BD uses same encode as JP BD.

super cool! saw the comparison of chroma a few days ago and was hoping something like this would be done.
Interruptor
Oh I didn’t know mp3dom didn’t encode the movies. That’s a shame :\
