Version 2 because ffmpeg messed up the filenames of the attachments. Version 1 (I’m making it private)

I decided to try my hand at creating an upscale. I used mench’s 480p rip, and upscaled each frame to double the size using waifu2x. I was initially planning to use video2x to do it automatically, but since DVD-format video is so funky I had to specify the FPS and aspect ratio in the ffmpeg commands, which meant I had to do everything manually.

Overall I’m fairly happy with how this upscale turned out. It doesn’t look that much better than the raw, but it’s definitely a noticeable improvement.

I hope you used the updated sub track from the description, both my and daddysubs’ releases have my old typos.

I can’t be bothered to make a new version right now, so I’ll just live with “friend rice.”

Hi, try using alternatives like ESRGAN, using the Sharp Anime V1 model, it gives better results.

I’m not going to spend another 24 hours upscaling this OVA, but I’ll keep that in mind for the future.

The good thing that with ESRGAN, you decompose the video into frames and you can segment the work and resume it when you like it best, avoiding excessive overheating of the video card, I use it for Openings & Endings and I take advantage of the Google Colab to do all the upscale work so my pc is free, experiment with what I tell you.

who the fuck uses ffmpeg to mux stuff

Look man, I was basically just copying the commands from video2x, with some modifications since it was detecting the wrong framerate.

The subs for the OP are not showing up quite correctly, not entirely sure why. Other than that and the ~4 typos in the subs, everything seems fine.

Ill try out the 2x upscale, thanks. DVD only what the hell man lol

@lord_ne why didn’t you use the 1.6gb file for the upscale?
