hard to tell from just the first episode. They're obviously trying to make the main character look as beautiful as they can (according to Japanese standards of "exotic" beauty, pale skin and light hair) ... I get the sense that they were trying to replicate the effects that made Emelia stand out, in Re:Zero...
As for the story itself, they spent episode 1 on her escape, and introducing a bunch of "mystery" characters... haven't watched episode 2 yet...
Note, subs vary from the Japanese, pretty obviously. First noticed this in ep. 2 The MC is a bit more helpless than you'd expect, but I think that just foreshadows a growth in ability as part of the plot. Not as feminist as mumitroll says - like seriously, you can see that shit from a mile away! Bit of a hard mix of Italy/Spain meets Japan.
