@ShuOuma You can find subs for the show on opensubtitles but you’ll have to download 1 per episode + they aren’t really the best (as in mistranslations and stuff and they are sometimes out of sync)
I don’t know if saizen and hng’s subtitles are downloadable anywhere but they are the best
Ashita no Joe 2, the series already exists on BD, what’s more, I have had it for a while with Chinese subtitles, if you search well I think it can be found in Nyaa.
@esajas11 Saizen’s subs are softsubs, so the subtitles can be extracted from their releases fairly easily. (Along with the fonts they used, if somebody wants to match their releases that specifically)
Their early releases had signs/episode titles as hardsubs, so all of that text will have to be placed back in manually… but only up to episode 40, I believe?
I would say the biggest hurdle for a re-mux is the subtitle timing, as the raws they used appear to have a different amount of black frames after the fade-out for the mid-episode break. This means the subtitles for the second half of each episode has to be shifted differently than the first half.
@vigorousjammer by hardsubs do u mean all of the subtitles?
Also shouldn’t be a problem if you use VLC since you can use the subtitle delay (but yeah noticed this issue while I was watching)
@esajas11: Uh, no. Not all of the subtitles are hardsubbed in Saizen’s release… where did you get that idea?
I’m looking at their release for episode 1 right now. and the subs for dialogue are softsubbed.
The only thing that is hardsubbed are the opening and ending karaoke, signs, and episode titles, but they eventually started to use softsubs for those, too.
Starting with episode 41, they started using softsubs for the opening karaoke, episode titles, and signs… however the Romaji “Ashita no Joe” title text in the opening (along with Saizen’s IRC channel and whatnot) was still hardsubbed all the way up to the final episode.
okay this is weird, when I try playing the files on mpv I only get audio from the left side but mpc-hc has literally no problems with it. and also sometimes there’s a very loud buzzing sound when I’m trying it with mpv.

I have the patches from chapters 8 and 9. Is it possible to know what they were for or what exactly do they fix?

I don’t understand that much, but I suppose its application will be advisable, right?

Yes, in ep 8 you don’t need to because the batch already has the updated one, but I forgot about ep 9, so you need to apply.

Any synced subtitles?
If somebody has them synced, sharing a link would be much appreciated.
And not forget our big thanks to @owowo for the raws.

Is it just me, or is episode 42 basically corrupted?
owowo (uploader)
ep 42 is 4:4:4, so please use a good player, like MPV
ColaCola2000
Oh my bad lol. I use MPC-HC. I’ll probably switch to MPV now.

MPC will handle that fine if you set it up properly.

How does these look without the denoise filter?
Strek
Better.
Seicher
The filter is from the new master, to see it without the filter you need to download the old DVD.
