[SubsPlease] Muv-Luv Alternative - 01 (1080p) [1F132213].mkv (1.3 GiB)
For a first episode it isn't bad.
I fear like this will go the psychic way, especially with the 2 seconds after credits.
Am I the only one that don't like how the fort-class looks, it might be shading or something but the entrance of it looked weird.
This anime (and the Muv Luv Alternative: Total Eclipse that came before it) seems to be catered to VN fans specifically. The knowledge and context you need to understand the story as a whole is severely missing (considering how confused I was while going in blind on Eclipse) but if you choose to ignore the lore and enjoyed Eclipse, this is alright I guess.
Just watch it for a different kind of plot instead.
Not at all bad but very reminiscent of the first episodes of Total Eclipse, which was at best an average anime. One of the highest rated VNs deserves more than just average. Hopefully they have a good plan going forward and give the story the love it deserves.
@Tow3r: Tbh all the BETA in Muv-Luv including within the VNs look weird as all hell. But yeah I think during the animations from the first-person perspective we got looked a bit 'extra' weird.
It's kind of like the Gundam and Macross franchises in a way. The deeper you've been in the KimiIta/âge rabbit hole, the more backrubs you get from the lore. But really, it ain't that much.
It still is awkward how Total Eclipse spinoff got an anime before the main sequel Muv-Luv Alternative, and now it got one while we still don't have the original adapted. I always imagined the OG adaptation to be divided in two separate seasons for Extra/Unlimited. Now that the sequel and its spinoff is animated, it give even less incentive to adapt the OG prequel IMO. And it's funny how Muv-Luv itself is a spin-off of KimiNozo with reintegrations from KimiIta, similar to CLAMP's Tsubasa Chronicles or Sunrise's Mai-Otome.
Absolutely do not watch this series unless you've already played the Muv-Luv and Muv-Luv Alternative visual novels.
Muv-Luv Alternative is a DIRECT sequel to Muv-Luv and the third part of a trilogy (the first two being released together)
Suffice to say that regardless of this anime's quality, it will not measure up to the VN in the slightest. If you're genuinely interested in the series, i recommend you go into Muv-Luv properly by starting with the Muv-Luv visual novel. it's a classic and does not deserve an adaptation that skips literally half of the story. like imagine if the Steins;Gate anime only adapted the 2nd Half, or that Steins;Gate 0 got an anime, but not the first S;G. it's kinda like that.
if you watch this, you are only doing yourself a disservice in both the long and short term. this anime will not be worth it.
Having "played" the VNs some time ago, in fact I skipped 90% of them because they were so dull and downright stupid, yes yes has lots of darkness and other "edgy" elements and all that jazz, however the characters are maybe the worst I have ever seen in VN history and most of the story is just useless babble that goes on and on. There are a thousands of better VNs available, believe me. Falsehood gives too much credit to VN, just read Unlimited manga (4 vols) and you are good to go. Some say this will have only 12 eps and the VN is LONG as heck, I had to take a coffee break while skipping, so my guess is this will be a rushed adaptation à la Danganronpa The Animation or Chäos;Child... It might be a merit here though.
@kingofhearts: Imagine skipping 90% of a VN and telling people it is bad lmao, could never be me.
@Tennouji: Too bad that the Steam censored version exists.
>Don't watch Total Eclipse, it sucks
>Don't watch Schwarzesmarken, it sucks
>Don't watch Alternative, it sucks
Maybe we can finally stop pretending like porno game #85798734 doesn't suck too
> playing an all-ages version of a porn game
That's the dumbest thing I've heard since veggie meat and decaf. It's analogous to divorcing your wife and then hugging a dakimakura of her at night.
i noticed they took all of the sexiness out of the uniforms which used to be why i watched the earlier versions long ago. expect this ti be a denatured luke warm version.
