Here is episode 2 of the 1976 Go Nagai/Knack Productions giant robot anime, "Groizer-X," with some improved English subtitles. The raw was ripped in 576p from the Portuguese ISOs. I took ARR's old subtitle script and did a lot of editing, re-timing, and translation fixes/corrections. I also cut out a TON of unnecessary lines that made absolutely no sense and had no bearing on the episode whatsoever. The fansub is a soft-sub MKV with white subtitles. Because I couldn't find any lyrics for the ending song, I chose not to sub the opening or ending, and left them as is. In this episode, "The Secret of An Alien Girl," the Japanese Air Defense Bureau turns Hanake Island into a base for Groizer X, and Jo takes it on a test flight with Rita. Groizer magically gains a support craft called the Groizer Jet, or G-Jet, which has the longest loading sequence I've ever seen in any giant robot anime. We also learn how Rita came into possession of Groizer X, and why she was injured when she crash-landed on the island. The background story is actually kind-of interesting, and makes up the bulk of this episode. A giant robot fight with one of the Gaira-seijin's Dark Robots is thrown in at the end, because you HAVE to have a giant robot fight in every episode, but Knack really went low-budget with it, and every hit is accompanied with a glass-breaking sound effect, rather than a hard, metal crunching sound. I did say the show was cheap, didn't I? Anyway, I hope you enjoy this trip to the days when giant robots seemed to be everywhere in Japan, and don't forget to seed for a while after you're done! EDIT: It has come to my attention that the soft subs aren't showing up in Media Player Classic. I recommend using VLC Player to watch this episode until I figure out what happened and fix this problem for episode #3's release. Thank you for your understanding.

It's showing up in my MPC, but I have a nagging suspicion you may want to, when muxing the subs, tag the sub track 'English' so some player will look for it. In fact, I'd retag all your subs as English just in case, when you do batches.

@Digitsie: Thank you for the tip; that's probably where the issue is coming from. I haven't had to do that until now, as this was the first time I ran into that problem. I'll remember to do that for the future.
Hope you have some more Groizer coming! Please keep it going, champ!

@robotoku: Groizer kinda ended up on the back burner when I was shifting priorities to Yamato 3, and then to Jeeg. I noticed that ARR finished subbing the series, though, so I can't say if my scrubs galvanized them or if they just did it of their own will. I'll definitely try and work on this again, now that I know I have your support!
Hi there, Henshin-Man! About having my support, do you ever! I NEVER thought I would see Groizer subbed, and thankfully, scrubbed! I come here several times a week to see if any new Groizer goodness has arrived from the Henshin-Man Anime/Toku Bakery!

Wow, several times a week? I'd better get busy and do an ep or two, then! I have all the subtitle scripts ARR did, plus I have all of my new 576p raws done, so I would say it's just a matter of finding the time to do it! Thanks for letting me know you're interested in Groizer-X; if at least one person likes it and wants to see more, that's enough to make me work on it!
