So a week ago when I uploaded [Last Exile](https://nyaa.iss.one/view/1506703), I mentioned that if you're wondering about the sequel, maybe check back on 1st April. The biggest joke in this is that it wasn't even a joke :) So, without further ado, [DEXA] presents:

A new story with new characters set in the Last Exile universe. A sequel to *Last Exile*.
The descendants of the planet's evacuees have returned to a rejuvenated environment, now free from the pollution that drove them out so long ago. However, they now face a constant and ever-increasing conflict with the planet's neglected inhabitants.
On the eve of signing a historical peace treaty with Luscinia of the Ades Federation, princesses Millia and Lily of the Turan Kingdom are lured into a trap and attacked by Luscinia, ruthlessly provoking war. Left for dead, the princesses are intercepted by a Vanship piloted by our titular heroine, Fam Fan Fan - a member of the Sky Pirates.

### Comments about this release:
+ Source definitely has banding issues, so debanding was needed.
+ The subtitles were created, styled and timed in-house, using various sources, mostly R1, but also official sources, various sites + wikis and a pinch of [Commie] (for one ED song). Let's break this down:
1. **Main episodes** - translation is R1 (provided by [CBM]) with some edits in the script when needed. Same as with *Last Exile*, the R1 script proved to be quite good and consistent, while also honouring the translation of the prequel. However, everything was re-timed and re-styled to match the style of *Last Exile* to provide continuity. This anime also features a second language, for which a separate style has been created to provide a better experience during watching. This anime technically has lots of signs, yet none of the sources provided any translations for them. So a decision has been made to create properly styled translations for most of them, all in-house. Please don't expect every sign to be translated, but a reasonable number of them are, including quite a few which are featured on screen for less than a second, making it impossible to read them without pausing. If you want to learn more about the lore, feel free to pause and read everything.
2. **OP, ED, in-episode songs and separate full OP video** - created, styled and timed completely in-house, using official sources, various sites + wikis and [Commie] (for one ED song which was in "Engrish"). No fancy karaoke though.
+ This release contains:
+ all episodes
+ two recap (summary) episodes, labelled officially as episodes 9.5 and 15.5. The latter recap is actually a recap of *Last Exile*, the prequel, in which all dialogue matches 100% with the translation of the prequel
+ One creditless opening and three creditless endings
+ A 4-minute karaoke video for the opening song (Buddy by Maaya Sakamoto), called "Buddy Karaoke Video (Full Size)", featuring inserts from the anime. Available on the last BluRay volume, originally it only contained the instrumental (no-vocal) version of the song. I've added subtitle (with kanji, romaji and English translation) for the full song. As an extra (which was not available on the BluRay), I've sourced the full vocal version of the song as well, re-timed it, adjusted the volume and added it to the video as the second audio stream, so you can switch to it if needed.
+ A short opening film called "Fan Appreciation Event Opening Film". It has no dialogue, only inserts from the anime.
+ Tested on my usual **Windows 10** setup, but I can also confirm that it's compatible with the **Nvidia Shield Pro** (2019 edition) using **Kodi**. (Note that MX Player had some issues rendering the subtitles correctly.)
+ **A very personal opinion about this anime and this release**: I was reluctant to even watch this anime for years, as the ratings and reviews were so atrocious. However, finally decided to watch it when it came out on BluRay, and my short opinion is that it's obviously not as good as the prequel, but it's better than the ratings would have suggested. The sequel actually has some quite good ideas, extending the Last Exile universe in a quite good way, placing the story on a different planet (which could be ours) with an actual map (which is partially the Mediterranean Sea area turned upside-down) and nations (one of which actually speaks a different language). The show also tackles some very hard themes, e.g. justifying genocide in the name of human overpopulation and scarce resources. This show could have been a bit of a "Game of Exiles", but as we know, it was let down by quite a few things. The soundtrack is still quite good, and even though I read in a few places that the visuals are bad, actually that's not the case (one explanation might be that the HDTV releases many people originally watched were really atrocious quality-wise, I compared some HDTV releases with the BluRay and the difference is evident). The reason I've decided to make my own release is pretty much the same as with *Last Exile*: I wasn't really happy with previous releases. Again, it's not a perfect release, but it was made with lots of love.
+ Many people would believe that this story is completely separate from *Last Exile*, but that's not the case. At first, it seems like that, but then the two starts to merge together. Many parts won't make much sense if you never watched *Last Exile*. The prequel is available [here](https://nyaa.iss.one/view/1506703).
