This is an anime special that basically serves as a glorified trailer for the DS game of the same name. Pokémon Ranger: Hikari no Kiseki is a two part anime special that aired once, saw a limited release on DVD from April 23rd till May 31st 2010 and then was lost to the ether for a stupid amount of time. The special first aired in Japan on the Pokémon-themed variety show "Pokémon Sunday" over the course of two weeks. The first part aired Feburary 28th 2010 with the second part ariving the following week (March 7th). Following the broadcast, the special was available to be viewed in glorious quality on TV Tokyo's website and would be available till March 21st 2010. The dub would arrive on pokemon.com on November 10th with an airing in America (on Cartoon Network) on November 12th. The special would see a supposed release on the Wii's Nintendo Channel sometime during the year for the UK & Germany. The special was produced in 16:9 widescreen for both the original and dubbed version. Despite being 2010 and the anime being in widescreen since 2008, Pokémon Sunday was still broadcast in 4:3 and thus, this Widescreen special aired in 4:3 to fit the programs format. The TV Tokyo stream would be 16:9 but in the quality that's equivilent to a 240p YouTube video. The pokemon.com dub version was 16:9 all the way and remains that way to this date. Disregarding the dub, the only way to view the special in it's original format is either the limited rental-only-giveaway DVD release or the TV Tokyo WMV stream. As such, this special in it's original format in it's original language without any edits in any meaningful quality has been lost since basically the start. This torrent contains the aformentioned DVD, which is the only official release of the Japanese version to be in the true original format. **Why does this matter?** Well, as mentioned the DVD is extremely rare. It was a limited release exclusively through TSUTAYA stores for just over a month and it seems not many copies have survived or made it to the ex-rental market. **What's on the disc?** The short is split into two parts and features a trailer for the 13th movie, commercial for the Pokémon Evolution card game set and a Pokémon Ranger: Paths of Light video game guide movie. The disc features no menu and opens with a trailer for the 13th movie as soon as the disc begins to play. Following the trailer, Part 1 of the short begins to play. A trailer for the card game plays after the first part concludes and before the beginning of the second. A short 3 minute video/trailer for the game plays before the disc stops playing. **It's not all sunshine and rainbows, however** The quality of the video on the disc, despite being the only medium available to watch the short in it's original form, is very poor. All titles on the disc are interlaced in the same with, with each pair of fields making up two fields from two different frames. resulting in every single frame being interlaced. When deinterlaced, this results in heavy compression artifacting in scenes with high motion. Until a matter of days ago, this DVD was lost (even within private circles) until now... As such, enjoy what is one of the rarest DVD's for this franchise by far. The 7+ year hunt for this disc is now over! *Some specifics you might not care about* Disc was dumped using DVD Decrypter stock settings. This disc is a 1:1 copy from a new-old-stock original white-case rental with only the copy protection being stripped.
