The entire 1.01 cut sourced from the **[Explanation of EVANGELION 1.01](https://wiki.evageeks.org/Resources:Explanation_of_Evangelion_1.01)** extra on the 1.11 Dybex BD. Unlike the 1.01 R2J DVD bonus disc, this extra is presented in 1080p from a clean copy of 1.01 without the hardsubbed explanation text.
Don't expect a pristine picture: lowish video bitrate [and the home video releases of 1.01 are sourced from a film-out telecine that even for 2007/2008 doesn't look good.](https://slow.pics/c/7HSOxFli)

I muxed in the DVD subtitles because I don't want to spend time on adapating the TS of existing subs to the framing and colors of the film-out telecine.
I actually love the filmout look of 1.01.
It reminds me of Studio Ghibli's films or early digipaint animated films like Don Bluth's Anastasia.
Now I just wish someone would make 35mm preservations of the original theatrical releases of 1.0 and 2.0.
3.0+1.0 was only presented digitally but I still wish a DCP leaks or something. DCP leaks have happened before for films like The Hateful Eight, Back to the Future, and Apocalypse Now.
A 35mm print may exist but it's unlikely. Then again, I did get to see a 35mm printout of Avengers: Endgame in 2019.
As for 3.0, I'm pretty sure it had both 35mm prints and a DCP, I hope a 35mm print gets a fan preservation.
35mm print preservations are a thing ever since the Star Wars theatrical cuts had them, and the Mario anime had a 16mm preservation too.
Maybe Studio Khara can release ultimate box sets for each film that have all versions in the highest quality possible.
My idea would have multiple discs per film:
