### Jin-Roh: The Wolf Brigade
### Video
The video is a remux of the 2007 JP BD, which, while being the best in terms of picture quality, has the video [windowboxed](https://i.imgur.com/R4ucKmo.png) (same situation as with my previous [*Cowboy Bebop: The Movie*](https://nyaa.iss.one/view/1470155) and [*Memories*](https://nyaa.iss.one/view/1416480) uploads). Fortunately, you can work around that without needing to encode by zooming in by 0.070 in mpv. If you’re using regular mpv and don’t know how to edit the default zooming settings, add the following lines to your "[input.conf](https://www.reddit.com/r/mpv/comments/ift2yt/where_is_inputconf_file_on_windows/)" file:
>Ctrl+w add video-zoom 0.001
>Ctrl+q add video-zoom -0.001
After adding these lines you’ll be able to control the zooming with CTRL + w / q in increments of 0.001. Hold down the keys to faster reach the desired zoom value. (You can, of course, replace the keys and increment values with whatever suits you personally.)
I also recommend using spline36 as your scaler in mpv so that no unwanted artifacts get introduced with the zooming. You can do this by including this line in your "mpv.conf" file:
>scale=spline36
For MPC-HC, you can apply the correct zoom by first right-clicking anywhere on the video, then go to the “Pan&Scan” tab and click on “Edit”. Create a new preset and set both zoom values as the desired values (1.0480 & 1.0480). It should look something like [this](https://i.imgur.com/0Hf5JxE.png). And that’s it, you’re done. You can now apply the zoom from the Pan&Scan tab whenever you want.
### Audio
The Japanese and English 5.1 tracks are identical between the JP BD, UK BD (which is a clone of the Discotek US BD), and FR BD (FR BD doesn't have the English dub), so I simply kept the JP BD audio. Some of the channels on the Japanese 5.1 track clip during a few very loud points in the movie, but it's nothing too bad. The Japanese 2.0 tracks on the BDs seem to be downmixes of the 5.1 mix, so for those without a 5.1 setup, the included FR BD stereo track might work better. Though that said, while YMMV, the 5.1 audio should sound decent even on a stereo setup unless you're using some funky downmixing.
Also, it looks like that's Yoko Kanno herself performing the vocal part of the ED song under her "Gabriela Robin" alias.
### Subtitles
I took Cry's cleaned-up version of THORA's subtitles, modified and motion-tracked the signs, restyled the dialogue, added back a lot of line breaks and missing commas, removed all double spaces, and retimed all lines.
Let me know of any errors either in the comments or on Discord, and I'll try to fix them as soon as possible.
