In case you're actually planning to watch this, [here's the full version of my TL notes](https://perevodildo.blogspot.com/2023/11/ningen-kakumei-episode-1-release-tl.html) that may provide better context for terms and events you'll meet here. No new episodes any time soon. Only gonna seriously sink my teeth into this after I get all my other projects out of the way. The video is my own quick and dirty encode of WOWmd's DVDISO. All I did was detelecine on 10 bit depth and 16 crf; I think it looks alright, though I'm by no means an encoding wizard. RAW provider: WOWmd Quality checker & group tag: Muzu Translation: Perevodildo This anime didn't make me a convinced Soka Gakkai adherent, nor even a Buddhist sympathizer. Mostly because I'm aware of the current state of the organization and the place of religion in the posthumanist world. Therefore, make no mistake: I am not compelling you to watch this, to take it seriously or, God forbid, to embark on a spiritual journey of any sort. My personal stance on this is such: Soka Gakkai is a useful social construct for people who need help, but that's it. You could say it's just my coping mechanism, but I see this OVA as a great, well-animated, with magnificent OST by Seiji Yokoyama, noble story about good-natured people trying to make the world a better place. It is by no means an honest representation of modern day Soka Gakkai, but I never expected it to be one. I prefer to see this an idealistic picture of what could've been. What can I do? I have a soft spot for realistic down-to-earth anime for grown-ups, idealistic stories and people, quasi-documentary presentation, refined BGM based on classical music, and most of all - challenging fansubbing projects. [Here's](https://youtu.be/ItaMEOOMdK0?si=rUteLpCpL7ZzHib7) the beautiful song from the end of this episode, based on a poem by Daisaku Ikeda, Morigasaki. My translation for it is also largely based on the one in this video because it's good as well (though the sound quality in this one video leaves much to be desired). As some of you may know, a certain Yamamoto Shinichi who only appears in the last 5 minutes of this episode is none other than Daisaku Ikeda himself. The one behind the very "Human Revolution" book this anime is based upon. My acquaintance with Daisaku Ikeda happened several years ago. Back then, I knew nothing of his background - only the things he did for Japan and the world were my ultimate criteria, which by then have already earned Ikeda a huge deal of respect in my eyes. Then, last year, I watched this OVA and fell immediately in love with it, again, not yet having a clue Ikeda was behind this one as well. You could say things were always destined to turn out this way. I am proud like never before of having subbed even this one episode, and my only regret is that I cannot erase my memory and re-experience "Ningen Kakumei" for the first time anew. This is truly a Futari no Lotte-tier prime material, standing proudly as yet another magnum opus of my subbing career. Futari no Lotte inoculated me with addiction to opera, Ningen Kakumei - with addiction to choral hymns. No words can convey just on how many levels this story has made me into a better person. I look forward to the day I can finally start it in earnest. But for now, farewell and Nam Myoho Rengo Kyo.

Thank you so much! I've been looking for these OVAs since like forever (they have Shingo Araki/Michi Himeno PLUS Seiji Yokoyama). I hope you upload all of them and even the soundtrack ::wink wink::
