As someone else who's played around with ripping and transcoding the USBDs, there's nothing in the video that makes it worth using for anything. I've been ripping my Ultra stuff at a decent clip, but I ended up just deleting everything I ripped from the Gridman release because it's garbage.
At the absolute most, it might be worth it for someone to OCR the subtitles from the USBDs and retime them to FortMax/Bunny Hat's raws (which are encoded from the JPDVDs and are a much higher quality than the USBDs). And even then, the subs aren't great, it's just that there are literally no softsubs (aside from what's on the USBDs) available for this series past the first few episodes and it would be nice to have something at all.
Edit: Also, this show was shot in 480i DV, and the USBDs are a lazy zero-effort upscale of the source material. What the USBDs did is no different than the upscale you'd get by fullscreening your player. Even if you were to use the USBDs' video for anything, keeping it at 1080i is just a waste of disk space. This is why they look no better than the JPDVDs (and I'm not an expert but from poking around at encoding with a few different settings, I have a feeling the USBDs janked the framerate in ways that the JPDVDs didn't).
> FortMax/Bunny Hat’s raws
I have yet to see a decent encode from them.
And for the edit, that's utter nonsense. Just because it's an upscale it doesn't make it worthless, quite the contrary. Bluray can contain a whole lot more bitrate compared to DVDs nor do they have to conform to the horrible DVD spec. So as long as the BD authoring didn't fuck anything up the process or do something stupid like use the DVD as a base instead of the masters, they often end up looking way better due to the sheer amount of extra bitrate.
Thanks for hardwork.
Filesize is too big. I need .SRT subtitles because I've downloaded DBD Raws version and I haven't freespace right now. Best regards.
