Thanks, time to continue watching from ep064! German BD is interesting choice though.
Puto
Short version, the Japanese BDs are absurdly expensive.
kingofhearts
Fair enough :)

could you upload the german dub & sub as well?

Degrained and bitrate starved. Opening is frame blended

Why is every encode of this show so terrible?
hchcsen
Gotta love the krauts for publishing a modern show in 1080i
Puto
Opening is only frame-blended on a few random episodes, no idea why. On most of them it’s not.
And it’s not 1080i, it’s progressive… mostly. Except those random one-off openings.
But yes, I had to degrain it slightly (smdegrain with thSAD=200), otherwise the encodes would end up 3GB+. Even as-is they’re still enormous.
hchcsen
The German BD is most certainly interlaced
Puto
It’s not interlaced. It’s flagged 1080i because it’s 25fps (with duplicate frames), but there’s no actual interlacing outside of a few openings and title cards. If you play the actual m2ts files you’ll see there’s no interlacing.

I mean, it’s just deleting the intended look of the show, and in general, this is encoded really badly. Just seems like a waste of time all around, sorry.
Puto
Not everybody’s willing to literally throw 3.5GB at each episode for the sake of artificial grain.
Anyway, added a note to the description saying this was degrained, it’s the best I can do. I honestly only thought the grain was there to avoid banding, tbh.
matheousse
It may be artificial grain, but it’s intended.
People with no storage will cope with mini encodes, but people who want quality encodes are willing to spend several GBs an ep.

I mean, even putting aside the grain, it’s still encoded badly. It falls apart visibly in motion with nasty blocking. Given the source (?) is also weirdly blown out and has blended spots, I just don’t see how this is much of an upgrade of the streaming version.
Puto
Yeah, any brightness issues are directly from the source, only filters I ran were tdecimate, smdegrain and gradfun.
TBH the blocking is probably from the source too, each m2ts file is 3.5GB, and crf16 doesn’t usually lead to bad blocking.

Thanks guys!

are there any changes or animation updates in the BD version? Should I go for 720p WEB or this? I’m watching on laptop.
