MAL Summary: "From her hometown to her daily life on Kurken Island, everything surrounding Reisalin "Ryza" Stout is painfully ordinary. Despite being the daughter of a hardworking farmer, she would rather go on pretend adventures as she explores almost every corner of the island. However, the fact that it is against the local customs to venture off Kurken Island irritates her to no end. One day, wishing for something interesting to finally happen in her life, Ryza escapes on a boat with her two good friends: the bookworm Tao Mongarten and the aspiring warrior Lent Marslink. Arriving at a nearby forest, the trio stumbles into Klaudia Valentz, the daughter of a visiting merchant who also wandered off into the woods. As the naive and underprepared group ventures further, they run into dangerous monsters. Thankfully, they are rescued by the alchemist Empel Vollmer and his skilled bodyguard Lila Decyrus. This fateful encounter will lead Ryza to the key that will change her life forever—the creative and wonderful world of alchemy." * * * * We are finally able to offer the batch of fansubbed episodes of Ryza no Atelier. This is the second anime adaptation of the Atelier game franchise (with the first being Escha & Logy no Atelier: Tasogare no Sora no Renkinjutsushi). When it aired it received no attention from the fansubbing community outside of memes and remarks about Ryza's thighs (some even nicknamed it "Thigh-za no Atelier"). While this was no surprise, after all Ryza's thighs ARE rather prominently displayed again and again, it did not seem to inspire fansubbers to tackle the series. However, that very fact DID serve as a catalyst for [Mocha] to give it attention as a slowsub. In many ways, like other anime adaptations, this was a sort of advertisement. At the time it was released the 3rd installment of the game itself was released as well. The actual content in the cour is roughly the first half of the first installment, whose full name is "Atelier Ryza: Ever Darkness & the Secret Hideout." As far as the content of the anime goes, it seems it was pretty faithful to the source. The anime even included content released as special offerings and add-ons after the game was released (the special outfits featured in ep 07 being an example). As regards the story line itself, it does seem that the anime was produced primarily for those already familiar with the game. Since the story really begins picking up in the second half of the first installment, one could easily feel that the anime itself was another example of a "slice of life"-style work. In the game when the second installment arrives, many of the bits and pieces foreshadowed in the first half suddenly acquire meaning and context, and one begins to see the overarching narrative. In any event, many thanks to all those who worked on this slowsub and stuck to it through the end! All errors in the release are solely my own, and there is other work that could be made to improve the release, but if the BDs do in fact become available we will be able to address them in an eventual BD release. ^^ * * * * Staff Listing: Encode: Pikminiman TL: Simulcast TS: Angrevol ED: Flower Timer: Animorphs Song TLC: Shadeseeker KFX: Zahuczky QC: Flower Moral Support, TS pinch hitting, seeding help: Pyros Distro: Zohead Note that we try to create the releases optimized for mpv - other players may give odd playback results.

I'm kind of surprised that there's still no BD release after all this time.
This is a nice surprise, thanks to everyone who worked on this
> I’m kind of surprised that there’s still no BD release after all this time. did it even get a BD
@cosmic It certainly did. Unfortunately it was a bit expensive. 6 vols with 2 eps on each, with each vol costing around 45-50$. So yeah ... 300$ plus tax and whatever else. Vol. 01: https://www.cdjapan.co.jp/product/ANZX-16221 ... there are other links near the bottom of the page. I have seen pre-owned packs of all vols selling for around 360$ or so on eBay.
> Unfortunately it was a bit expensive. Typical Aniplex.
Still not sure why they haven't announced / are doing an S2 to this to at least finish the first game, just seems like an absolute waste of an anime effort
> Still not sure why they haven’t announced / are doing an S2 to this to at least finish the first game, just seems like an absolute waste of an anime effort Pretty typical of anime adaptations of video games. They're essentially just huge advertisements for the source material to get people buy the games.
