Professor Araragi gives Satoshi a new Pokédex and Poké Balls so he can begin his journey in Isshu. On his way, he comes across Iris and her Kibago. When Team Rocket appears and tries to steal Pikachu and Kibago, Satoshi tries to use his newly caught Mamepato against Musashi and her new Koromori, but Mamepato is not strong enough. However, a Mijumaru appears and saves Pikachu and Kibago before disappearing as soon as it appears. Later, Satoshi and Iris take Pikachu, Mamepato, and Kibago to a Pokemon Center so their health can be restored. Iris decides to travel with Satoshi and Pikachu through Isshu, as she knows her way around the region.
