Orphan is redoing as many of the stories from the 1986 anthology series *Seishun Anime Zenshuu* (translated as *Animated Classics of Japanese Literature* for its English release) as we can find sources for, starting with the twelve episodes released in North America on DVD. We'll be releasing the show as individual stories; the first is *The Izu Dancer*, adapted from a novella by Kawabata Yasurani. It's a simple tale about a traveling student, Mizushima, who encounters a troupe of traveling entertainers in Izu and is smitten with the youngest daughter, a dancing girl named Kaoru. He accompanies the family, and her, for a while, but eventually, he must return to his student life in Tokyo, while she remains bound to her station by her lowly social status.
