Happy 40th Anniversary to the Dragon Ball TV anime.
These thirteen DB episodes were originally what got Kineko started.
Before we were doing our own scan commissions and Patreon, etc., we relied exclusively on regular group-funding to make these scans happen. The scans were kept private to keep up incentive for funding, but everyone involved has always been looking forward to an eventual public release. Originally it started with just a batch of five episodes, followed by another, then a few more, until we’ve culminated it all to this batch of thirteen. We do not anticipate getting any more in the future unless we are extremely lucky.
We’d like to give thanks to all the people who’ve helped fund around $5,000 in scanning costs for these DB episodes: Azozi98, PepsiMax, GalanDun, AtomicXFire, Kaze, Jaysgba, SidTheGamer0, Ashura, Amicunt, FrostyGraybob, KameZ, Quazza, SakuraTyan, July, Bwanson, FG, Fred Flanders, torrentguy, Darkexy, hikaritenchi, EPho3nix, WuTangKlann, Azelf89, J Romao, Notelu, brap, Ajay, Nemu, Venny, RetroJunkie, JT, Geekdom101, Kratos, iKaos, Kyreck7o2, JackieJason89, _Maki, Edo999, WPR, DBZImran, Anonymous, ZeroCool, metrunui, MartyMcflies, Tanks, Pi7on, CrashOveride, wonder-inc, Kei17, Ronin559, IAmTheMilkman, JySzE, Wicked13, ergiman, vanner64, Tarranium, ethan2awesome, craigbille, Enigmo, VDenter.

Back in 2020, our goal was to fully restore these with tapemarks removed, dust and dirt removed, stabilized, shot by shot cc etc… But the amount of things we were scanning rapidly grew within our first year and we had more “complete” titles to work on e.g. movies and OVAs, so work on the incomplete list of DB eps had been put on hold as a relatively over-ambitious project for us.
We never really resumed restoration work on these due to lack of time, but they are honestly in more than watchable condition and we’ve been sitting on them for way too long so might as well just release. We did, however, color correct them to the best of our ability.
The prints we’ve been scanning were already color timed by Toei Animation, meaning the shot by shot color fluctuation you see on DVDs like DBox isn’t present here. Their shot by shot color timing isn’t perfect, and some shots will look off here and there, but overall it is still very good, so we’ve decided not to alter their timing and instead just do a global adjustment on each individual episode (with the exception of episode 58, which came from a Japanese broadcast print rather than an international print like the rest).
English audio (2.0 and 5.1) and nearly complete (some compromises had to be made) subtitles from SoM’s upcoming DB CC v2 have been synced to the HD video.
Also included are two additional audio tracks for ep 149 containing a mono music+effects mix and a mono music only mix, transferred from an original 16mm magnetic film created for dubbing the show.
We hope you enjoy what has been years in the making for us. Thanks for all the support and your patience up to now.
