You are confused. We don't have to wait extra BECAUSE recap. Recap is because they planned to air episode 1 on 4/12 and thus 4/5 was left empty (Timeslots are bought as a package thing) and they decided to air a recap to fill it. Recap exists BECAUSE we gotta wait extra. If it wasn't a recap, it'd be the more traditional special where the seyiuus and some staff talk about the show. That also happens for some shows that don't air on week 1 of a given season.
