The plot opens in the year 2199, with planet Earth facing extinction within one year due to radioactive pollution caused by Gamilon planet bombs. A message arrives from Queen Starsha, of planet Iscandar, providing Earth with plans to build a superluminal engine and the promise that, if Earthlings can reach Iscandar, enduring what obstacles the Gamilons might put in their way, the Queen will give them a machine—the Cosmo DNA—that can neutralize the deadly radioactivity. But can the Star Force travel 148,000 light-years and back in just one Earth year? Not if the Gamilons can help it. They will do whatever it takes to take down Earth's only hope for survival! ======================================== Synopsis: -=-=-=-=--= 14 "Octopus Star Storm" The Star Force has been standing still in space for several weeks, waiting for a huge space storm to subside, in hopes of finding a short-cut channel through the vast Octopus Star system which fuels the storm. The Star Force crew grows anxious and ornery with nothing to do, and several scuffles break out, including one between Wildstar and Venture. Assistant Engineer, Sparks, begins to question the feasibility of the mission, and asks Orion to present a case to Avatar for simply finding a nice, quiet planet on which to settle. Later, plagued by bad dreams, Wildstar wakes up in the middle of the night and takes a fighter plane out into the storm, unauthorised, to see if he can find the channel. He finds a channel, gets half-way through, spots a Gamilon patrol ship therein, and prematurely concludes that the channel goes all the way through. He returns to the Argo expecting a hero's welcome, but gets reprimanded. The rest of the crew are dubious, but Captain Avatar decides that now is the time to act, as they are falling behind schdule. Avatar orders that a course be set through Wildstar's channel. After a very rough ride through the vortex, the Star Force appears on the other side of the storm. The year 2200 dawns.
