The localized english title is "Nura: Rise of the Yokai Clan," emphasis on the "Yokai," yet whoever did these subs still thought it was necessary to translate "Yokai" as "Demon." I know, it's petty, but it drives me insane. There are just some words that are better off not being localized given the subtle differences in connotation.
And it's not just Yokai, though, there are plenty of other unnecessary attempts at localization like changing the Yuki-onna yokai to "Snow Woman." I get it, "Snow Woman" is a very literal translation, but in the context of a name it doesn't seem necessary to translate—just leave a TL note and know that your viewer may have learned something, though I can imagine that some people may find TL notes to be patronizing, still, I think they're the best solution to not having to resort to stupid/childish sounding localizations.
I wish someone would rip the subs from Hulu (I'd do it myself but I have no idea how that's done, though I suppose there's no better time than now to learn). At least Hulu/Viz's official translators respect the viewer enough to leave "Yokai" as "Yokai." I could just not be lazy and edit the .ass files; I'm guessing I will get frustrated enough to reach that tipping point pretty soon given how I'm ranting in a low traffic Nyaa comments section of all places.
Clambert Depends on how the lore is treating them, demons can work if all of the "monsters" are called the same thing, when you get into having 5 or 7 different word for demons but they all mean slightly different things thats when I get annoyed when they just use demon.
