Most people characterize Spangle call Lilli line as a post-rock, downtempo band; they're not wrong. But having said that, I believe it is impossible to select any single album that encompasses their entire range. The band has put together a lengthy and impressive discogragphy after emerging onto the scene in 2001. The roots of Spangle call Lilli line lie in the Shimokitazawa district of Tokyo, which has served as the home of more than a few downtempo indie bands. The influence can be heard in their eponymous debut album from twelve years ago; the music walks the line between post-rock and shoegaze, carried along the way by Kana Otsubo's quiet vocals, who interestingly writes the band's lyrics in English and then later translates them back into Japanese.
I decided to share _Purple_ simply because it is my favorite album by Spangle call Lilli line. The music is similar to what you will find on some other albums, but again, it is not so comprehensive that it represents the band's full scope. The album does not have the orchestral power of _Forest at the Head of a River_ or the fast-paced rock of _New Season_ (available from a torrent posted here by ruoying).
If you have any requests then please leave me a comment, and I hope you enjoy the album!
