It's here at last!
I'm not gonna lie, I wasn't too impressed with the transfers of these movies, seeing them in high definition. They aren't as DNR'd as the TV series was, but the film print used is questionable, especially with movie III. This is more a curiosity of mine than a judgment, but I expected a lot of movie III to be sharper than it actually is. Very little of it actually shows the kind of sharpness we'd expect from a 35mm film, and thus, it's questionable if they even shot the new footage in 35mm. The new footage looks just as soft as the second generation 16mm footage that was recycled for the movies. Either they didn't shoot it in 35mm, or the print used for the HD transfer is subpar. The colors are all stellar though, albeit a little different from the TV colors.
The mono, 5.1, and dub tracks are included here. The dub has been reused from my old DVD version, so the quality is lacking; however, it has been resynced by hand, in real time, and should be as accurate as it gets for a triple audio release. Movie II and III in particular are vastly improved in the sync department!
The mono subs have been OCR'd this time. OCR quality in Subtitle Edit has come a long way since I last tried ripping those subs (SubRip couldn't even properly read the vobsubs), and I did a pretty thorough correction through all three movies for any glaring OCR errors. The 5.1 subs have also been adjusted slightly, and now both subs have their respective ending song lyrics.
