This torrent contains six studio albums by Luna Sea: 1\. _Image_ (21 May 1992) 2\. _Eden_ (21 April 1993) 3\. _Mother_ (26 October 1994) 4\. _Style_ (22 April 1996) 5\. _Shine_ (23 July 1998) 6\. _Lunacy_ (12 July 2000) I was going to upload this yesterday but could not find my copy of their 1991 debut album, the eponymous _Luna Sea._ Sorry about the omission. I own the album so I’ll rip it as soon as I actually find the damned CD…. However, I do not own their 2013 album _A Will,_ so that one’s missing from this collection as well. Luna Sea is a five-member rock band that debuted in 1986, although it wouldn’t be until 1989 that their line-up stabalized, and not until the 90’s that they achieved mainstream success. In their earliest days Luna Sea was very much a visual-kei (VK) band. Throughout the 90’s they gradually toned down and phased out their visual-kei stylings. Nonetheless, due to their success Luna Sea is often credited as one of the most important bands in the development of VK. Musically Luna Sea benefited from the diverse experiences and preferences of its members. For example, lead guitarist Sugizo was also a classical violinist, and so you’ll hear the violin incorporated into various songs—his mother played the cello on their later albums; vocalist Ryuichi was influenced more by pop than rock, which I feel is reflected in both his singing and lyrics. Throughout their albums you’ll hear pop-rock, modern alternative rock, punk, and some lengthy rock ballads—notably “The One,” which runs for twenty-three minutes, but hardly their only song which crosses the ten-minute mark. The band broke up in 2000—a major “WTF?” to me at the time—and the members went on to various levels of solo success. Most notable during this period is the work of guitarists Inoran and Sugizo, the former showing up unexpectedly in collaborations, e.g. (I think) he played a large role in Olivia Lufkin’s 2009 single _Sailing Free._ Drummer Shinya also released a nice solo album called _No Sticks_ during Luna Sea’s disbandment, which I own and will try to find for upload. Eesh, this is turning into an essay…. Long story short: Luna Sea got back together in 2007 and all was right in the world again. If you’re a fan of Japanese rock from any time after the early 1990’s then chances are you like a band who was influenced by Luna Sea. So from that perspective I think fans can find historical merit from these albums. But more importantly, they’re simply great albums. Dated? Sure. But still great. “Classics.” As always I hope you all enjoy the music! **Note:** Track 12 of _Shine_ should be titled “Breathe.” I incorrectly titled it “Breath.” Sorry about the typo!
