This one might surprise some of you, but it's been long overdue. First off, this is \*NOT\* a new encode. I encoded ZZ long ago, but as many of you know, Daisuki had an official translation available on their site that, upon completion, was taken down not long after. During that time, the subs were ripped (thanks Bunnyhat!) and I styled them up and retimed them to fit the existing BD rips. This was a bit challenging because these rips are back from my ordered chapter days, so I had to exclude the OP/ED timings and then patch the new subs and fonts into the existing release. Patching the OP/ED files was the most involved, since it required maintaining the same GUID from the previous version in order to prevent ordered chapter functionality from breaking.
So yes, this still requires separate OP/ED files, but it also still works. We now have an official ZZ translation available on the best looking video possible (Daisuki was provided the old DVD master for god knows what reason). If you happen to have the previous rip, do not fear, for I have included a zip file with all the patches for every episode! In fact, these patches have been available for months now; I'm only just getting around to making a batch torrent for this, so spread the word.
The patch should also fix some aspect ratio issues via Matroska containers (so turn on container AR recognition if you haven't) that were incorrect in the original release.
is anyone else having trouble with the OP/ED files? they seem kinda bugged when it comes to pausing/unpausing, and transitions to and from the episodes themselves.
other than that, quality looks good
on closer inspection, it just seems to be the ED that bugs out when it cuts from the episode to the ED
idk if it's a corrupt file or something but I forced a re-check and everything seemed to check out fine so I'm not sure what's up there
