I'm not Horriblesubs, the keyword means that the English subs are the easiest to read. (Those are soft.)
480p is not HD. It's not the biggest or the most popular, but it's still a useful choice to have.
Please pass it on, so it will live on.

My review:
As a reward for saving the princess, knighthood is given to a young man resenting the military and his friends. To avoid dying in jail for disobedience, they must join the army to defend the country against a rival empire.
But they end up having to fight senseless battles even against their own people. It basically turns into the Holocaust. Everyone know that it's wrong but they follow orders...
Stories like this need to be told, but they aren't as fun as a hero versus evil. In reality, everyone have their reasons and can do both good and bad. We can be wrong about what's right, be unable to do it, or confuse pleasing our prideful ego with righteousness. Being more powerful can make us win, but it doesn't make us right. War is never holy, it's just a mean to survive... so some people can't stop to find better ways unless they're stopped. Unfortunately, instead of rooting for both sides, I ended up liking neither and no one. (Arslan Senki blurred the lines of morality in a more pleasant way, with more honorable characters.)
Their technology and religion is based on small creatures with elemental magic. But they're gunpowder and flashlights at best, not impressive. The anime doesn't feel like a magical fantasy, it's too insignificant to be more than military. (GATE had a great way to make real military clash with the fantasy wold. ) At least it's bloody sometimes, but even with the people willing to be friendly if given the chance... so it felt overkill, unnecessary and shocked me. But the anime creators did a good job at making us dislike war.
The main character is an annoying mix of arrogance and laziness. His attitude is "meh" and that's how I feel about the anime. But it's rated 4/5.
If you run out of fantastic masterpieces with awesome strategists like Code Geass and Log Horizon, there are worse ways to entertain yourself.
Enjoy~
