Video and audio are from LittleBakas!: 1920x1080p, h265-10bits, FLAC 2.0
Chapters and fonts are from Elysium
The subs are Elysium, with some lines for the pgs retail. Things i changed from elysium:
1\) Sis to onee-chan
2\) Cousin Yui to Yui-nee san
3\) Teacher to sensei
4\) Dad/Mom to otou-san/okaa-san
5\) Manager to Tenchou
6\) high-classed lady/girl in a well-to-do family/Miss to ojou-sama or ojou-chan
7\) all names to Lastname Firstname order (Kogami akira instead of Akira Kogami)
8\) pigtails to twintails
9\) Good lucky to Morning luckies
and generally tried to keep all expressions as close to the japanese meaning as possible.
Man, I wish a better release existed for Lucky Star.
LittleBakas!'s encode used here is super sharpened and destructive to the video quality, with tons of haloing. There's also many cases of split lines in the subs where the 2nd line is only a single word with the top line drawing across the entire screen width. WPM also jumps around quite a lot.
Tsundere's release has encoding glitches.
Virus123's doesn't have stylized sub or the later edits (plus not seeded).
kuchikirukia's ordered chaptering doesn't work in mpv or was improperly setup for some parts? Plus subs aren't stylized. (Subs taken from doki?)
Elysium is a lower quality encode and AAC audio, as well as has the same subtitle splitting issue.
Doki is a little better but still low quality. Comes with both a.f.k. and EnA subs, which the latter I find to be more accurate -- though not as big of an issue anymore with Elysian's edits to a.f.k.
There's no truly great release. :(
Too bad this has the fake translation "I want to **** with konata" in the OVA.
Kagami really says koubishitai which means "I want to copulate/have sex"
Konata's name is never mentioned. Tsukasa merely brings her up as an excuse to get out of an awkward situation.
Those changes mean a lot to my inner otaku. There is NOTHING worse than "translated" honorifics. Honorifics don't translate. They mean what they mean. Every time a translator drops Miss So-and-so instead of So-and-so-chan I get unreasonably angry. Name order. Nomenclature. Alla that shit. Makes a big difference. It's why I don't purchase regionalized shit from Fuckumation and the like.
This subtitle script is inferior to the Elysium release, it contains many inaccurate alterations to fit the writer's simplistic idea of word-by-word translation, to the point where some sentences are incoherent, self-contradictory or just outright misusing words.
the changes are so stupid.
@futagen what the hell do you mean "no respect or appreciation for Japanese"?
because people want to read consistent and coherent subtitles instead of a stupid mix of Japenglish?
wanna complain about lack of respect towards the language, go whine to the dub watchers.
@stealthmomo "Every time a translator drops Miss So-and-so instead of So-and-so-chan I get unreasonably angry"
imagine being this childish.
I support translation, not localization.
and there are ways to translate honorifics.
It's not something that only "corporate anime localizers" do, it's something fansubs also do.
I do agree that changing the order of first name and last name is wrong since I prefer for the name order to coincide with the way its said in the Japanese dub.
I have a Multi-Audio (Japanese, English, Cantonese, Mandarin, and Korean) version of this anime.
