![alt text](https://i.ytimg.com/vi/-M9aE4LtdHM/maxresdefault.jpg "Elfen Lied") Elfen Lied taken from the Source BD Encoded by me with great care. [Video] Codec: H265 HEVC Encoder: x265 10Bit Resolution: 1920x1080 Framerate: 23.976 [Audio] Track1: Flac 24-Bit lossless audio with Japanese in 5.1 Surround Track2: Flac 24-Bit lossless audio with English in 5.1 Surround [Subtitles] Track 1 - [No Honorifics] Subs Track 2 - [PGS] Subs Track 3 - [PGS] Signs/Songs Chapters included [Video quality] We use CRF 18, a high-quality bitrate setting that is a standard recommendation on Doom9 (the expert encoding forum). Rest assured that this video will look perfectly fine even when watched closely on a large screen. CRF 18 avoids pointlessly bloating bitrate for virtually no gain, so you get a great balance of quality and size. [Audio quality] This encode uses FLAC, which is lossless but also very large. For virtually the same quality at a much lower filesize, download our [Small] encode instead, which uses lossy AAC encoding to strike a better balance. (The video in both encodes is identical.) No Problem ^^

Smaller encode is also present for the ones that want that without Flac audio
Love the quality uploads!! Thank You.
hehe I remember watching this when I was younger...

User
hehe same for me though I do have to rewatch this sooner or later with a friend ^^
If you could make a encode of the remastered Blu-ray of Wolf's rain with this same kind of quality, i would be eternally grateful. Thanks

I can't seem to find that BD so sorry to inform you about that but I found the DVD isos so I could upscale it locally to make it higher res though it is best to leave it on the resolution it came on
Hey, may I ask you for advice? Is it worth the size just for FLAC audio? I mean... is the difference huge? Otherwise I'll go with the smaller one! Thanks in advance.

Flac has no compression so no loss in audio quality also it is easier to decode for users with a good PC, AAC is pretty good in compression and keeping quality on good settings though you will notice the once in a while audio artifact

>Flac has no compression That's just plain wrong

Nep_Blanc (uploader)

User
@AZX that is not wrong it is better in a sense, though in this case it made the file size way larger then needed though it does matter for audio quality

AXZ

User
>that is not wrong It is though. The whole point of using FLAC is to compress digital audio.

Nep_Blanc (uploader)

User
Also you say compression but this is trivial it compresses the audio a little though not as much other codecs do so relative it does not compress.

AXZ

User
Man, you don't make any sense. The average anime blu-ray comes with an uncompressed audio track (pcm, 2ch, 48khz, 24bit) which has a constant bitrate of 2304 kbps. Using flac -8 you can easily reduce the file size by ~40-60%.

AXZ

User
Obviously other lossy codecs can reduce the file size even further but claiming FLAC has no or little compression is just completely wrong.
I think Nep_Blanc was thinking of lossy compression. FLAC does lossless compression, saving space but retaining original quality. So FLAC does no destructive compression. But yeah, it's still considered compressed, like how a zipped file is "compressed".

User
I did not say that it did not compress, I implied in a way that's it isn't as bad as aac audio quality. The original audio has more bitrate but this depends on how many silent parts are in the audio as flac uses this to compress the audio more.

Nep_Blanc (uploader)

User
Flac also is a lossless compression algorithm for sure I should have been more clear with that but just for the not so tech savvy person I keep it more or less simple as flac has big filesize compared to AAC compression.

User
I guess let's rephrase that Flac is lossless has better sound is bigger AAC lossy sitty sund and smaller
Tester here, I rechecked audio streams for this anime, it is syncing correctly with the video, and/or any dubbing in this encode should be synced correctly with the video as well.
