Thanks for your feedback. There are small things that I like in HB that don’t exist in StaxRip (like not having to demux every time opening a file, the queue system, the neat UI, etc), and vice-versa. Quality-wise I think it’s pretty much the same when using the same encoder IMO. Encoding speed is also the same when using x265. What I like in StaxRip is the NVEnc but last time I used it it’s having a compatibility issue. Also, Stax is more configurable tho. I may try it again in the future. Thanks
I still use Handbrake/Vidcoder for my uploads that I am not filtering. The encoding quality and the speed are the same in both, I just hate demuxing with stax because I have my server drive on the LAn and it has to do a copy over the network and back to the destination drive which slows that part down compared to encoding on the server itself which has a weaker CPU than my main gaming/encoding machine.
Yes, and I dont like it because the quality is garbage compared to regular H265, also it creates much larger (comparatively) file sizes. I usually just do medium setting H265 with 20CRF for 1080p and 18-20CRF for 720p stuff.
Also, I noticed in your other encodes that there was a fair amount of blocking and pixelation compared to some of the raws I looked at. Using Staxrip's screen comparison tool, I notices in Mahoutsukai no yome that there was a TON of quality degredation compared to Horriblesubs 1080p release, particularly in the intro with the black BG. So my suggestion would be to up the CRF on your videos to maybe 20, and Medium setting if youre not doing that already.
